1 month picture

So I started thinking...I better take Bennett's monthly pictures in the same place every time. So yesterday I took his picture in our brown chair. This will be easier to see his changes. Enjoy!!!
Oh and Landon wanted his picture taken. That's him at 39 months!

Bennett is 1 Month New

Baby Bennett is 1 month old.  He is such a sweet baby and such a perfect addition to our family. We love you Bennett Lance!!!

10 things about Bennett...
1.  He is wearing size 1 diaper and we go through tons of them
2.  He is eating every 3 to 4 hours and drinking 4-5 oz. each time...he's a hungry boy
3.  He is happy to just lay down and look around-he doesn't have to be held 24/7 even though I'd like
      to hold him :)
4.  He has only been to my parents house, Nana's house, the doctors office, & church for about 5
minutes.  Our doctor recommended 6 weeks and we are sticking to that.  Only a few more weeks!
5.  He loves being talked to...especially when it is his big brother talking!
6.  He still has a beautiful skin color and blue eyes.
7.  He weighs 12 pounds...big boy!
8.  He tends to stay awake a lot in the morning and around noon he will give in and take a good nap
(which is good for us because then I can get both boys down for a nap).
9.  He still has a lot of hair and when it is wet it looks pretty curly so we shall see.
10.He does not take his paci like his brother did.  He'll take it for a few minutes but then out it goes.
     Luckily he doesn't cry much.

Here is some pictures of him on his 1 month birthday.
This picture is a day before his 1 month but it is a good body shot of him!

Look how well he holds his head up?!?  He's a strong boy!
Not sure why I can't turn this picture...but here is a picture of my sweet boys!
We went over to Nana's house Monday morning.  Sweet Marsha comes over and cleans every other Monday around noon so we like to get out of the house so we'll be out of her way.  This was Bennett's first trip to Nana's and I think he liked it.  It was nice over there.  Her house is so peaceful and bright. I did try tummy time with B for the first time while we were over there.  He liked it for about 3 minutes.
Landon kept telling me B didn't like it and wanted up.  He doesn't like when B is upset.

Such a pretty day!  I love going for drives.
Funny boy trying to wake up.

Now here are some random pictures from my phone.

When I was getting Landon ready for school, I put Bennett down on Landon's bed and of course Landon had to get in there with him.  He definitely loves his brother!
I bet before I know it these two will be sleeping together in this bed and mommy & daddy will actually sleep in their bed all by themselves.  Hey, a girl can dream right?!?
Here is Bennett last Thursday.  Who doesn't love a sleeping baby?

When Landon goes to school I get extra cuddle time with B.  With your first baby you can cuddle and hold them all day.  But when you have a 3 year old wanting your attention the second child has to learn to deal with being put down.
Today is my 29th birthday.  We aren't going anywhere.  Landon is at school so B and I will go get him here soon.  I'll probably go pick up food because the hubs has a bank meeting.  I think they should tell him not to come since it is his wife's birthday.  But guess I'm not that special :)

Sweet brothers

Landon wanted to hold Bennett this afternoon. It took us a few times to get a good picture-but the other pics were funny! These two boys are so cute and I love them so much!
Bennett is probably thinking "someone please save me."
Landon trying to kiss B...which is something he does all the time.
Landon is pretty comfortable holding Bennett.

Look at Landon's crazy face...goofy kid!
Here is my favorite picture!

Landon also took my phone and snapped a few of me and B. Excuse the no makeup and the outfit that doesn't match, but honestly I don't really care what I look like or what I'm wearing right now. I'm taking advantage of my days home and being as lazy as a new mommy of 2 can be.
I think Bennett likes his mommy just a little. :)
Life is good and I'm very blessed to be the mommy to two very sweet boys!

What Have We Been Up To...

Well, things are definitely going good but they are going too fast.  I can't believe Bennett is already 3 weeks new.  He is still a very easy baby and such a delight.  Today we started him in size 1 diapers.  The newborn diapers were a bit too tight on him and even though the 1 diapers are just a bit big we are making them work.  We have tons of size 1 diapers and I really hate to keep buying newborn diapers if I don't have to.  He is eating 3-4 oz. every 3 to 4 hours.  And at night he has had a few nights of going 5 hours.  I think he'd go longer if he'd stop pooping at night.  He needs  to learn to get that business taken care of during the day....ha!

My sweet 3 week old baby :)  He's so cute!
Landon is doing good.  We have been dealing with his diarrhea for about a week now, but he is finally getting better as of yesterday.  He is going to school on Tuesday and Thursdays while I'm on maternity leave so I wasn't sure if we'd be able to go today due to his belly.  Well this morning he went to the bathroom but it wasn't too bad.  I told him he better stay home but he said "Please can I go to school?  I want to see Ms.Alicia."  Well I hated to tell him no so I went ahead and took him.  He hasn't had a fever this whole time and last week the nurse practitioner told me it was just viral and it would just take time to get over.  So I sent him.  I did call my doctors nurse today and she said it probably was viral and recommended doing a clear liquid diet for 24 hours and then the BRAT diet if we needed to.  But since he's eating and drinking fine and it is getting better, she said give it a few more days.  I pray it goes away because even though he doesn't act sick I don't want my baby to be hurting in any way.
So what else have we been up to...
This past Sunday my sister and I took off to Branson by ourselves-no kiddos which is pretty good since together we have 5 now.  Thanks to the boys for keeping the kids so we could have a day.  And we got to see some of the damage from the tornado they just had.  So sad what a tornado can do in just a short amount of time.

It was fun going with Brooke and even though we didn't buy much for ourselves we did find some good things for the other family members.  We got the hubs some polo shirts and the kids all got some new things.  I think Brooke and I were super excited about our purchase for ourselves.  We bought things to do our nails.  I recently took off my acyrlic nails (after many years of wearing them) just because I wanted to see how my natural nails would do and was just ready to try something new.  So far I am doing good.  I bought Sally Hansen Hard as Nails and the OPI color Step Right Up!  I like it because it is light and natural looking.
I also found some new shampoo to try.  I was reading some blog and she recommended using Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo/Conditioner over the original Moroccan stuff.  It is a lot cheaper and it has the exact same ingredients.  I'm all about trying it so we'll see.
Last week I had a girls night at a local spa and it was so much fun.  At my baby shower back in February, me, my sister, Ally and Gwen were talking about waxing.  Random I know...but we are girls!  So we mentioned doing a girls night of waxing and thanks to Ally we made it happen.  Now of course Gwen and my sister couldn't go but I was all about going for visiting.  I have always wanted to wax my underarms.  I always think famous people have pretty and clean armpits where mine always looks ugly.  So I decided to try that and then I went ahead and did my eyebrows.  The girl doing the waxing was super nice and she told me I didn't have enough growth so she did what she could.  She didn't charge me and just told me to grow them a bit longer and to come back.  So my arms have been down for this week and I'll probably go back Thursday while Landon is at school and I just have Bennett.  So the girls just took turns getting tortured while the others ate snacks, drank fancy drinks (I stick with water because I'm boring), and laughed at each other during their sessions.  We did do the baby test where you take a string and your wedding ring and let it hang above your wrist to see what your babies you'll have.
My test said - boy, boy, girl....guess we'll see but as of now I think the two boys are just perfect :)
Rochelle was boy and straight to girl so we think she'll have twins
Kim got boy, girl, girl, boy
Candace got a girl
and Katie had boy, boy, boy, girl
Ally had already did her test at work and it said girl, boy which is correct because she's preggo with her 2nd right now and it is a boy.
We are silly but those girls nights are a lot of fun!  I think next we are doing a cooking class.  I can't believe we never had girls nights until Ally got back to town.  She did this when she lived in Little Rock and when she moved back she wanted to get something together.  I'm so glad she did...Thanks Ally!

Oh and my sister convinced me to read The Hunger Games and I'm really liking it.  I'm trying to finish it before this weekend so we can hopefully go watch the movie.  I read a chapter last night after I fed B at 3:30 AM even though I should have been sleeping.
My sister also told me to download the app Draw Something.  That is a fun new game we are currently playing.  It's kind of hard drawing on your phone with your finger but it's still fun.  The peeps I'm playing probably think I'm a horrible drawer but I think I do fairly well.  :)
Hope everyone has a good night and I hope these storms don't keep us up...oh wait...I have a 3 week old so I'm sure I'll be up anyway.

2 weeks new

Bennett was 2 weeks on Monday. We had to go to the doctor for a weight check and for his circumcision. I've been dreading this day since we left the hospital. You see they never did it at the hospital because of his breathing. They didn't want to make his breathing worse when we were finally getting it better. Plus we went home on a Saturday so our doctor wasn't around. He does the plastibell which is easy so he said he'd do it at his office at two weeks. So Monday we had to be there at 11:00 so they could put a numbing cream on him, we waited 15 minutes in the waiting room so the medicine could start working, and then nurse Lauren came and took him back. I guess it's a good thing we couldn't go back because I couldn't have heard him crying. The doctor came and got us within about 5-10 minutes and as we were walking back I could hear him crying. The other nurse Jeanie said he was calm until they laid him back down to be weighed. At his 1 week check up he was 8 lb 13 oz and Monday he was 9 lb 5 oz. Doctor said we didn't have to come back in a week for 1 oz which I was glad to hear. So now we are good until his 2 month appointment.  Judy kept Landon at the house and she was planning on staying the night because she had a funeral the next day...and I am so glad she was here.  Bennett was definitely crankier than normal (which I don't blame the kid) and definitely needed to be held.  Plus Landon was starting his sickness and not napping so he was cranky and needed just as much attention.  Judy and I were just taking on one kid and switching back and forth.
Here is B at 2 weeks new :)
Here are the boys this morning.  B in the swing sleeping and L in the rocking chair.  They are too sweet!
Bennett is such an easy baby...or so far.  Lance and I are definitely lucky because Landon has always been an easy kid (besides his ear infections and some other health issues) and Bennett seems to be doing the same.  He eats every 3-4 hours and sometimes longer if we allow him, he is eating 3 1/2 oz. of formula as of this week, we usually feed him at 10 or 10:30 PM, he then eats around 2:00 AM, and again at around 6:00 AM.  We are not complaining with that schedule.  He doesn't really cry unless he is wet or dirty then he gets a bit fussy.  He likes to sleep in his lamb swing and when he is awake he enjoys just laying on the floor and looking around.  He hasn't left the house too much.  Our doctor recommended keeping him away from others for 6 weeks.  He said with the flu going around it just isn't worth it.  We agree!!!  He has rode with me to take Landon to school one day last week, we've been to sonic a couple times :), he did go to church last Wednesday for a few minutes, to my parents house, and then to the doctor twice.
Landon and I have been sick so we are trying to leave B alone as much as possible (not too easy when I'm here at home with both boys by myself).  We have the cold/throat and belly stuff.  It's a lot of fun!  We did go to the walmart clinic yesterday but they said it is just viral.  So we will just give it time I guess.
Well I am hoping to get both boys to nap here in a few minutes and hopefully I can rest too.  I'll try to post about all the other things going on later today.

Special Visitor

So things have been going really well. I still need to post about our first week home and I plan on doing that soon. I can't believe today has been a week for us to be home and I can't believe B is almost 2 weeks new :).
Today Lance, Landon, & my dad went over to Viola to get a few things so my mom came over to watch B and I went to Walmart and then took a shower. My sister also came over to hold B. She absolutely loves babies! While we were visiting my BF (we've been BF since 2nd grade and will always be close) Megan called and said she was in Yellville. She came in to town to meet B. It was really good visiting with her. So happy to have her in my life.
Now everyone is gone, B is finally sleeping, and my other two boys are outside working on our new garden and about to burn something! Love my life and family of 4. :)

Saturday, March 3 - Such a Sweet Day

Bennett is way off on day/night. He slept all day Thursday and so last night he was awake tons. He didn't fall asleep till 2:30 am. Bless his heart-we've got some work to do on that. So now we are watching him sleep-yeah I'm sure we're not doing good for tonight. But right now we are just ready to get released. Our patience is gone and I'm about to go find the "awesome doctor" who's on call and drag him up here by his ears. There is no point in making people wait. Do your rounds earlier buddy!
During our long wait, my sister brought Audrey and Christian up to see Bennett.  It was pretty funny.  Seeing how kids react to babies is always interesting.  After they left we continued to wait and we'd ask the nurses if they had heard from the doctor.  They said he told them 45 minutes but that turned in to about 2 hours.  Lance and I ended up sharing my lunch tray since we were still there.  I let him have the entire tray and I took the chocolate chip cookie.  Those were the best and probably not going to help my left over belly bump.
Oh, fun story I forgot to write yesterday.  So after my ultrasound I was waiting for the elevator and this guy in his 40's came up to wait as well.  Well he was looking at me and I knew what was coming.  I was thinking "please don't even say something because you're about to stick your foot in your mouth."  Well he did just that.  He said "I bet you're having a girl."  Oh crap!  So I had to tell him I had a boy on Monday.  AWESOME!!!  Let me just say it was an awkward elevator ride.
The doctor came around at 12:45 and he said we were good to go home.  Nice how we had to wait all morning for that.  The nurse came back and went over everything and then we got our bags and headed out the door.
The nurse was sweet and asked if we wanted her to take our picture.  Good thinking!  So here we are headed home after a long week.
Little guy in his car seat
He seemed to like the ride home.

When we got home Landon was taking a nap so I took advantage of the time to put all of our stuff away.  Anytime we travel (which isn't often) I have to unpack the minute I get home.  The stuff bothers me.  Landon woke up about 20 minutes later and he was so excited to see us.  And he doesn't even understand how excited we were to see him.  It felt great to be home.
 Landon loves holding Bennett
Not sure Bennett is comfortable...but look at those sweet legs :)
What a blessing he is to our family!

Friday, March 2

I woke up at 3:20 am and walked out to get new ice packs (trying to make my drying up as easy as possible).  Bennett was at 2.0 and Rachel said that he was at 1.5...hmm??? She said she'd find out what the deal was. She came to my room and said he got to 1.5 and breathing was a bit fast so she upped it back to 2.0 just to be safe. I then just prayed that he'd straighten up and be down in a few hours. So at 6:15 am I called Kristina. She said his breathing was really good and he was on 1.0 which is when they are done with the vapotherm. Yes!!! She did take him off completely at 7:00 am so all he has is his IV. He'll have that till tonight just in case and that way they wouldn't have to re stick him. The doctor said the plan is to watch him for a few hours and hopefully he can come to our room around 10:00 am and we'd stay tonight but go home tomorrow! Great news. He also looked at a spot in my armpit. I have a weird abscess that comes out when I'm pregnant and it's on my left which is the MRSA side. So he said we will do ultrasound to see what's going on. I have that at 1:30 pm. Hopefully that will be fine and be taken care of quickly. Always something-but I'm not staying any longer. When B goes home I am going home :)
Now it's 12:15 pm and we are holding Bennett in our room :). We got him in here at 10:30 am and we are not giving him up. They did his hospital picture and those turned out super cute.
Landon and Judy are on there way. Can't wait!!!
Here is our baby boy...finally getting him after waiting 4 days.
Those pacis crack me up!  They are so huge on their little faces.
Daddy finally getting to feed B.
Love this face :)
And before they brought him they did his hospital pictures.  I think they turned out super cute.
 Look at that hair
Landon got here at 12:30 pm and stayed till 3:30 pm. He got to feed B, help burp him, wipe him during his diaper change, and just love on him. We all ate lunch but Lance and I didn't get trays till 12:45 so I had to hurry and eat because I had my ultrasound. I went to admissions and that was about 15-20 minutes of waiting, and then I went to radiology and waited about 15 more minutes. They did the ultrasound and she said she was going to show the doctors...what? That kind of scared me but I guess they look it over before they send you home (or for me back to the maternity ward).  She came back and said I could go which tells me I'm ok. I went back to my room and Janice and Tracie were still visiting. Landon was having fun with Tracie. A little later Judy and Landon were ready so I walked him out.  He was very tired and kind of cranky and he said he didn't want to leave until I left :(. That makes me sad but I know we'll be going home soon.
Landon giving Bennett a kiss hello
Landon feeding Bennett for the first time

I think Bennett liked that.

When I got back to the room Renee from church and her kids were here seeing him and then my sister came in. She held him the entire time she was here (close to 2 hours-she loves her baby B). Dr. Robinson called Lance and said Bennett's ECHO was all good and my ultrasound was ok. No fluid so nothing to drain just tissue. We are starting an antibiotic just for prevention. Lori, Cathy, and Mackenzie came by for a quick visit. Brooke left around 5:45 and then my parents came up to see him. Lance ran to get my new antibiotic and food. My parents left around 7:00. The nurses took B for his assessments since it was nurse change. They brought him back and that's when the long night started :).
